On August 21, Preservation Ohio representatives were in Shelby, Richland County at the invitation of the City of Shelby Historic Preservation Commission. There, together with friends from the Richland Preservation Action Group and the Richland County Historical Society, we attended the dedication of a historic marker commemorating downtown’s placement on the National Register of Historic Places.

After the event, we enjoyed a tour of the 1872 Historic Engine House, as well as three additional downtown Shelby buildings which are currently being renovated or which have been renovated and whose owners had preservation-related questions.

The day culminated in a lunch at The Vault, a beautiful adaptive reuse of a 1910 bank building.
