By Thomas Palmer, Preservation Ohio Executive Director

For the first time in several years, I will be attending the Heritage Ohio Annual Conference, taking place the first week of October in downtown Toledo.

When I first started with PO, the state’s preservation organizations and the Ohio Historic Preservation Office joined with the Ohio Historical Society in putting on a statewide preservation conference. That event has not taken place in over a decade.

I have been at one HO Annual Conference, which took place at Ohio University in Athens. This year, I was invited to attend by the new HO Executive Director, Matt Wiederhold, and I am very much looking forward to doing so.

I am very fond of downtown Toledo and have always found it to be a place full of potential and promise. It will be nice to visit there again and to see the work of ConnecToledo in person.

You are welcome to follow along on Tuesday, October 4 as I see good friends in Ohio preservation and hopefully make some new ones. I will be live-tweeting and doing some Instagram and Facebook posting using the hashtags #POatOH, #heritageohio, and #preservationohio. If there is an official conference hashtag, I will include it.

Can’t wait!
