Board members, members, and guests joined this past Saturday for the 2023 Preservation Ohio Annual Meeting.
The event was held at the Delaware County District Library’s Main Library building in downtown Delaware.
Those present heard an interesting presentation given by Roger Koch, local preservation advocate and downtown developer, on the beginnings of the historic preservation movement in Delaware. Roger was joined in those reflections by Marian Vance, new Preservation Ohio Board President and also a member of Delaware’s original historic preservation commission.
Roger remarked on the tremendous impact that recognizing and capitalizing on Delaware’s sense of place had had on the city’s economic development. After Roger’s comments, a discussion was held among those focusing on the varying public attitudes in Ohio cities on historic preservation efforts.
After the next slate of Board members were elected, officers were chosen for the coming two years. Those included Marian Vance, President; Brian Horgan, Vice President; and Wesley Clarke, Secretary.
Board members preceded the event by having lunch at the venerable Bun’s Restaurant, a downtown fixture since 1864.
