Preservation Ohio is pleased to confirm that we are not only alive and well, but moving forward with renewed and expanded programming in calendar year 2026. Below is a brief look at what’s ahead.

First, for the first time since Ohio’s Most Endangered Historic Sites list was introduced in 1993, its annual release has been moved from Preservation Month in May to January. This shift allows us to draw attention to vulnerable historic buildings across the Buckeye State at a time when physical activity is typically limited. Winter in Ohio is often a season for planning, reflection, and thoughtful consideration of alternatives.

Second, during May we will spotlight preservation and revitalization success stories through a new series running throughout the month. We are excited to share the many ways Ohioans come together to protect important local resources and thoughtfully plan for the future of their communities.

Third, we warmly invite you to join Preservation Ohio or renew an existing membership using this link. Donations are, of course, always welcome. Members will receive early access to new programming and educational opportunities, and we think you’ll want to be part of what’s coming.

Fourth, we are pleased to invite individuals with experience in local preservation efforts across Ohio to consider joining our Board of Directors. Preservation Ohio places strong emphasis on hands-on, grassroots knowledge. If you have a passion for local or Ohio history and enjoy working collaboratively, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you. Please contact Executive Director Thomas Palmer at thomasp@preserveohio.com.

Most importantly, we extend our best wishes to you and your family, and to all those engaged in local preservation work, for a meaningful and productive 2026 from Ohio’s original statewide historic preservation organization.
