When National Register listings were announced at the end of February, an Ohio downtown was included.

Much of downtown Coshocton, roughly bounded by Main, Chestnut, and Walnut Streets between 3rd and 7th Streets, was included in Ohio’s newest National Register Historic District.

Spearheaded by the group Our Town Coshocton, consultants which prepared the nomination met with property owners to explain the benefits of National Register listing. In particular, they discussed Federal and Ohio tax credits, low interest loans, façade grants, design assistance, and historic conservation easement opportunities.

There are approximately 120 buildings in the new historic district.

Preservation Ohio salutes governmental and civic leaders in Coshocton for this achievement.
