Please join us in welcoming our new AmeriCorps Member and Assistant, Jennifer Gray.

Jennifer was selected for the position through an interview process conducted in Mansfield which included Marian Vance, Preservation Ohio Board President; Thomas Palmer, Preservation Ohio Executive Director; Franco Ruffini, Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer; Jennifer Kime and Jamie Thompson of Downtown Mansfield, Inc., and two Downtown Mansfield, Inc. Board members.

Jennifer’s passion for history, preservation, and non-profit work was clear in comments made in the interview, and which were continued in an enjoyable and informal orientation lunch on Wednesday of last week.

Preservation Ohio’s new AmeriCorps member will be housed in the offices of Downtown Mansfield, Inc., in a pacesetting and exciting partnership with that outstanding revitalization organization. Last year, we partnered in hiring a single Member, who concentrated her work on near-downtown neighborhood revitalization efforts. This year, two Members are being housed at DMI. One, Doug Versaw, a 28-year member of Mansfield City Council, will be working exclusively on neighborhood revitalization. Jennifer will be assisting to some extent in that effort, but her main responsibilities will like in helping to build capacity, interface with the public, and assist in educational and technical assistance efforts across the state for Preservation Ohio.

Jennifer and Doug are working through the Ohio History Service Corps, an extraordinary AmeriCorps effort spearheaded by the Ohio Historical Society and ServeOhio. Council Members are stationed across Ohio, where they are working in various history and preservation-related efforts.

With this change, Preservation Ohio will be making an address and phone change, as well as expanding our list of e-mail addresses. The address and phone information will be shared soon; in the meantime, our e-mails include the following:
