Preservation Ohio invites individuals involved in local preservation organizations, historical societies, historic preservation commissions, design review boards, and others interested in preservation to join us on a journey to the future.
We are excited to be launching the new Ohio Preservation Connection (OPC), which, for the first time, will provide the latest resources to Ohioans in a simple, easy-to-use format powered by AI.
Ask a question, get an answer. It’s that simple.
Questions can be asked as text or images and will be answered using access to websites, information compendiums, video libraries, and much more. Through the new Local Preservation Connection (LPC) interface, answers can be tailored to address granular, specific matters.
For example, a property owner might ask, “I would like to install new windows in my building at 123 Main Street in Athens, Ohio. Is this property in a local historic district? If it is, what guidelines govern this type of renovation? Who are the local contacts for this process? Are there local grants or other financial assistance that can help cover this expense? What preservation or downtown revitalization organizations exist in my community and how can I contact them?”
Coupled with the OPC, that LPC query can be expanded to explore state and federal preservation programs and the whole spectrum of financial incentives.
As shared above, this fall, we are convening a group of interested Ohioans to help us make decisions on implementing the OPC and LPCs. This is a first-of-its-kind initiative, and we want to ensure Ohio is at the forefront of change. We need your help with exploring possibilities, making tactical decisions, and moving forward.
