The Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit (OHPTC) and other financial tools have been used successfully to transform commercial buildings, former factories, and other large structures in projects involving tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars.

Great potential exists as well for smaller projects. The OHPTC, for instance, has been used in renovation efforts with budgets below $500,000 and as low as $60,000.

Preservation Ohio has now launched the “Banking On The Past Resource Center for Small to Mid-Sized Projects” to bring together information about a wide variety of available financial assists for owners of these properties. In each case, links have been added to places online which provide detailed information, including links to videos, about a particular program.

As an added feature, we have included briefs on 15 smaller OHPTC projects with addresses, project costs, credit amount, and additional information.

Grants, loans, other tax incentives, and many other tools are included.

The new Resource Center is available as a benefit of Preservation Ohio membership and for attendees to our local workshops. If you are currently a member or a recent workshop attendee, send an email to: thomasatpo@gmail.com and we’ll get you the access information.
