Several Ohio communities received glad holiday tidings near the end of 2018, as December saw a number of individual Ohio buildings and districts listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Included are the childhood home of an astronaut and US Senator; the former Canton Timken High School (which has its own Wikipedia page); and a downtown area that actually sites in two counties with the boundary running down its main east-west artery.

New individual listings include:

  • Forest Lawn Memorial Park – 5400 Market Street in Boardman, Mahoning County
  • Ontario Building – 713-717 Jefferson Avenue in Toledo, Lucas County
  • The John Glenn Boyhood Home – 72 Main Street in New Concord, Muskingum County
  • Wickersham House – 23 East Washington Street in Jamestown, Green County
  • Timken Vocational High School – 521 Tuscarawas Street in Canton, Stark County

New or revised district listings include:

  • Glendale Historic District (boundary increase and decrease) – Roughly bounded by OH 4/Springfield Pike, Oak Road, Railroad right-of-way, Carol, Sharon, and Morse Avenues
  • Plymouth Historic District – Roughly bounded by Dix, Trux, Mills, and New Railroad Streets in Plymouth, Richland and Huron Counties (pictured)

In addition, two potential listings have been submitted in 2019:

  • Case-Barlow Farm – 1931 Barlow Road in Hudson, Summit County
  • Roundwood Manor at Daisy Hill Farm – 3450 Roundwood Road in Hunting Valley, Cuyahoga County
